Whither Shermy?
Y’know, I had always assumed that Shermy was the ghost with the Davy Crockett hat, as he sometimes wore one in the earlier comic strips.
I knew there was a conspiracy against him!
Shermie is short for Sherman and is not a good name for a Klan member. He might as well be called Abraham. Or Martin Luther King.
I got a rock.
I’m a schoolteacher and I had five Halloween costumes (Cat in the Hat, cow, Dumbledore, hippie, and ghost) that I wear for Halloween, the idea being that no student would see the same one twice. Last year I retired the ghost from the rotatoin after several students commented that it looked like a Klan outfit.
There was an early South Park Hallowe’en episode in which Cartman came to school dressed as Hitler and got in trouble with the principal. The problem was, the “ghost” costume she made for him as a replacement looked like…you guessed it.
I also got a rock.
