And So 14 Years Later a Story Concludes

Posted in Uncategorized by cesco7 on September 2, 2012

I want to thank everyone who stuck it out for the “Jackie and Ralph Wedding” plot. Four months on a single story is a long time for a non-soap opera strip–and a wedding is not exactly the most innovative narrative device out there–so I can understand anyone’s fatigue and am very grateful for all those who kept on reading. At least I didn’t end it with someone running away from the altar at the last minute (though how I went four months without Ted making even one reference to the Dynasty Moldavian wedding massacre is beyond me).

And hey, I did get to end another summer with The New Delhi Monkey Gang performing on stage. Remember, they’re available for weddings, bar mitzvahs, and any event that can accommodate a lycanthropic theme.

Hope you’re all having a great Labor Day weekend!

Ah, well. At least you didn’t write a bizarre American-Graffiti like coda that shows us where everyone will end up in the future before promising to return to Ted and Sally’s meeting with the Klurns.

Yeah, yeah. I know. Enough references to Lynn Johnston’s “BAM!!!! We’re assh……For Better or For Worse.”

I find it hard to believe it was four months; it certainly didn’t feel like the strip was focused on a single subject for so long. It did help that there were enough characters and enough threads going into the story that it didn’t stay on any one beat too long.

As opposed to “For Better Or For Worse’s” fabled Settlepocalypse wherein all everyone talked about was how great it was that the middle daughter had found the ‘redemption’ of marrying a sunken-chested bookkeeper whose ambition was to open a B and B after the ‘mortal sin’ of playing house in college with a hockey player. THAT seemed to last not fourteen years but fourteen millennia.

Werewolf Bar Mitzvah! Werewolf Bar Mitzvah!
    Boys becoming men –
    Men becoming wolves!
