Disney Cartoons That Should Never Be Turned into Broadway Musicals

With “Frozen” now making its way to Broadway, Disney continues its fine tradition—including “Beauty and the Beast,” “The Lion King” and to a much lesser extent “Tarzan”—of getting people to go from paying too much for a movie ticket to getting a loan against their house to pay for a theater ticket. But not every Disney animated movie is meant to be turned into a live musical, otherwise families would be scratching their heads and emptying their bank accounts to see the following productions…Smosh Sample Disney Musicals

Not exactly related, but I had a thought about Frozen that I just had to share with someone.
I saw the movie a few months ago and liked it a lot, although I wasn’t blown away. Recently, I watched the video for “Let It Go”, and compulsively re-watched it. And I thought, “Y’know, I’d like to see Frozen again.” I puzzled over that for a while, and then it struck me:
Frozen was about the wrong sister.
Anna is isolated from her sister, marches across the snow, meets a cute guy, and saves the day.
Elsa accidentally hurts her sister, is isolated from her (and the world), is forced to suppress her power, has another disastrous accident, is self-banished, embraces her power, defies her upbringing . . . now that’s a story.

What makes you think Frozen isn’t actually about Elsa? I think that’s what the story is all about – Anna, after all, makes no real character journey. It’s like realizing Star Wars isn’t really about Luke, it’s about Anakin.
