I know, I know…it was ‘Squirrel’ that got everyone.

So just so I’m on the same page – ‘Phyllis’ is Dad’s new wife/girlfriend, and his Dad really is a dick.

OTOH, it’s really inconvenient to try to wipe away tears when you’re wearing 3D glasses over regular glasses. (I’ve modified a pair of 3D’s to fit better of my glasses.)

Yes, but what are your options for the next twelve hours? And again when you’re in the store and see that Disney’s marketing a tie-in ‘My Adventure Book’?

I found this strip very validating.

pccmdoc – No question that Russell’s dad is a dick, but are you sure about Phyllis? I thought perhaps she was a maid/nanny and that she was the woman who attended the boy scout ceremony. Or perhaps that woman was Russell’s mom, otherwise not heard from?

Good point about Phyllis. That was what I was thinking at first during the movie. But it was really weird how they left it hanging. When his dad didn’t show up I was suspicious that maybe Phyllis had something to do with it.

I wonder if this is why it got a PG instead of a G rating…

How is divorce grounds for a PG rating?

      • Dave Van Domelen said, on June 2, 2009 at 12:51 pm

Action/violence combined with that little bit of Kevin’s blood through the bandage were probably enough to get PG.

I thought the emotional trauma of the first ten minutes contributed to the PG rating . . . an emotional sledgehammer isn’t healthy in concentrated doses.

I remember being pretty traumatized by Bambi
