“Ehhh–t-t-t. Of course, doc. Must protect Veidt’s new utopia. One more body amongst foundations makes little difference. Well? Whaddya waitin’ for? Do it.”
Fair enough question. Actually, I’m feeling perfectly fine. Things have gotten very busy with professional projects so this strip has not received its usual attention. However, hopefully I can be compassionate, inscrutable and and completely hilarious tomorrow. đŸ™‚
This is like when people ask Randy Milholland, cartoonist of Something Positive, “Why have your characters been acting so mean to each other lately?”, when in fact they’ve been that way since the beginning.
Bret – That’s why this strip is not as funny as it should be. It’s completely in character for Bugs to face down the shotgun and yell “Do it! Do it!” but it doesn’t mean he’s hit rock bottom. It means that he’s faking Elmer out in some way. If it were a more unstable character, like Daffy or Elmer himself, the “rock bottom” comment would be more convincing.
It’s still a pretty funny strip, though, especially if you don’t think about it too much (which obviously is my failing). The Snoopy strip from the previous day either is not funny at all, or is something I just didn’t get.
Michael and Harold – I’ll buy into some Elmer Fudd/Dr. Manhattan comparisons. But I draw the line at seeing Elmer Fudd walk around naked. Especially given his short stature, a Manhattan-sized schlong would be an awful sight.
In other news, “Manhattan-Sized Schlong” would be a great name for a band.
=v= The “Manhattan-sized schlong” was a dumb Hollywood rewrite. In the comics/graphic novel, it’s just a little doodle, perhaps indicating Osterman’s lack of concern with fleshy matter. (I do not as a rule overthink things like penis size, but Watchmen does lend itself to that sort of thing.)

Guess Bugs heard they wanted him to do a sequel to “Looney Tunes: Back in Action”, and decided this was the only way out.

“Wabbit–”
“DO IT!”
Oh, Lord. Elmer Fudd as Dr. Manhattan? Well, he’s got the hair going. And I guess Daffy would be Veidt, and Taz would be The Comedian…
Is the author in a bad mood this week? This is the second day in a row that the ‘toon has been mean, obvious and completely not funny.

Archives. They’re there. Use ’em.
I like the mean ones. đŸ˜¦
I disagree — I thought the strip was mean, obvious, and absolutely fucking hilarious.
I’m pretty sure Bugs has actually done this in some old Looney Toons shorts.
More than once.

Speaking of Archives– will the entire Archives ever be up?
The weird thing is, I’m pretty sure Bugs did this several times in the actual cartoons.
